William Bernoudy Home

Wednesday, April 25, 2012

This William Bernoudy home is over 6,000 square feet on 18 acres and is pristine condition. If you are a mid-century modern fan, you will certainly appreciate this beauty. I am in love with the bathroom cabinetry. The place would be perfect for a period movie. I just can't get over it.

Ft. Worth

Wednesday, July 28, 2010

My husband's grandmother is 106, so the whole family traveled to Ft. Worth recently for a visit and family portrait. She is pretty amazing--very sharp for her age. She even asked how my mother was doing, remembering that she had a heart attack earlier this year.

Ft. Worth has some gorgeous art deco architecture along with neighborhoods full of bungalows and mid-century modern homes. Lindsey and I took a driving tour while Audrey napped in the car and marveled at all the great homes (and trees).

The Glass Castle

Wednesday, June 16, 2010

I'm just now getting around to reading absorbing memoir The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls. A friend lent me her copy and I haven't been able to put it down. Walls is a writer and journalist who tells the story of growing up with an alcoholic father and mentally ill mother. Some of the accounts are harrowing and almost difficult to read, especially as the mom to a young daughter. But Walls is an excellent writer and it moves along quickly. I'm about one third of the way through it.

Just for fun, here are some real glass castles (ok, glass houses) with links to more photos.

Philip Johnson's famous Glass House in Connecticut

Designed by Utz-Sanby Architects, this glass house is actually a luxury tree house.

And you MUST go look at the gorgeous photos of the Jodlowa House near Krakow Poland designed by PCKO Architects in co-operation with MOFO Architects. Stunning.
