I've lamented before that I've never felt really settled in this house. We are feeling the itch to move stronger than ever before. I have someone coming this week to give us an estimate on painting the downstairs and we've been trolling neighborhoods and real estate sites for months. In this market, who knows what will happen.
Not having a space of my own to make art has impacted me more than I've wanted to acknowledge. So the next house has to have some kind of studio space, preferably on the same floor where Audrey will be doing most of her playing and we will be doing most of our living. I am keen on the idea of a huge room where I could have my creative stations housed, Lindsey could have his guitars, and Audrey could have music and art supplies—so we could all be zoning out creatively together. But the idea of exposing visitors to our mess makes me cringe. So maybe a basement or attic space. I really like this garage turned into studio space.
While I'd like to have something like this, or like this, or like this — this is what my last studio looked like. (But I loved it!) Have you carved out a space for yourself?
