Our trip to Chicago was marvelous. Here are my quick picks.
- Dinner on the patio at Piccolo Sogno with Tracy and Matteo.
- Doris Salcedo and Sylvia Plimack Mangold at the Art Institute--among about a hundred other works--the two Cy Twombly's facing each other, really?!
- Self guided tour of Oak Park.
- Trombone Youth Orchestra playing at Cloud Gate (aka The Bean) in Millennium Park. Truly, Millennium Park is such an amazing public space.
- The spa tub at our bed and breakfast. Sometimes a girl just needs a good soak.
- The anniversary love letter from my husband, who is remarkable beyond words. I know that sounds all dopey, but geez, he's swell.
Of course we missed Audrey. My stomach actually hurt approaching the driveway, I was so excited to see her. She had a blast with grandma and grandpa (a wedding and a birthday party!) and really didn't show signs of missing us until Monday. She's had a few meltdowns in the last 48 hours. I'm hoping it is just residual anxiety from us being gone and not a true phase.
