Celebrated my birthday last Saturday with a real date! Mom spent the night and watched Audrey so Lindsey and I could go out on the town.
- Breakfast at Uncle Bill's: Wanted to try Rooster but also wanted to avoid Mardi Gras/downtown. Hadn't been in a very long time. I must confess, I prefer Uncle Bill's pancakes and hash browns to Chris' Pancake and Dining.
- Drive through Tower Grove Park and presents: Got the backscratcher I asked for. The best gift ever, seriously.
- TFA Antiques: Hadn't been since they moved the entire store over to Morganford. Found two small things. Slightly annoyed by being constantly followed by overly helpful help.
- Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum: Saw the Saarinen Exhibit which we loved and picked up a copy of Atomic Ranch magazine, which is so great. Really hard to resist a subscription, but no more magazines.
- Bowling at Tropicana Lanes: I won first game 85/80 and we tied 110/110 second game.
- Slumdog Millionaire at the Chase: I bet Lindsey he wouldn't ask for tickets to "Slum Lord Jillionaire". He did. Movie was great. Hadn't been to a movie since December 2007.
- Drury Inn: About one mile from home, but seemed like one million.
- Dinner Atlas Restaurant: Very good. Service and atmosphere get a 10. Food about an 8.5. Tempura appetizer with garlic aoili was a 10. Entree was solid, just not real memorable. Creme Brulee was very good but served a little more chilled than I usually prefer and was in a tall ramekin rather than a low wide one so not as much sugar crunch to crack and that is the best part, after all. I will return. I think the owners are super nice.
A great day. Very eager to see Audrey on Sunday. When we pulled up she was looking out the living room window and started waving like crazy. My mom was crying when I got inside the house. I asked her what was wrong. She said, "She is so sweet. She was saying 'hi hi hi hi' to you while she was waving so fast that she was almost out of breadth."
I have some kind of sweet life, that's for sure. 42 ain't so bad.
