I am so excited! My friend Stefene Russell has agreed to take my place as Art Outside Event Coordinator. This is a tremendous relief because I just didn't know how I was going to do everything, with my new full-time job at Laumeier. Stefene will be fan-flippin-tastic at it. She has jumped right in already. I'm going to help out whenever and wherever possible. Last year working with Sara, Ann, and Brandyn was so much fun.
I'm settling in at Laumeier. Luckily, I have some experience with the institution. My friend Karen, has worked there for years and I have done some contract/freelance work for them in the past. The people I am working with are really great. This place is pretty magical to me. Experiencing that Lipski each morning as I walk into building and being able to see the Robert Gonzalezpiece from my office window--that is special stuff indeed. More people need to take advantage of the place.
On the art front, I'm still waiting for the latest River Styx issue to arrive, which will contain a suite of my Vegas photos. The Islip show will open in a couple of weeks. And I have to start working on additional work for the Potato show in July (and publicity too). Last night I woke up with an idea to finish up the window installation at SKIF. But I need to talk to Nina about it--or just go in and do it, maybe next Saturday. I have to make more time for the studio. I'm extremely excited about the photography show opening at Mad Art in June. Met with the artists involved a few weeks ago to get a preview of the work and it all is meshing very well. I encourage everyone to go see the Ruby Osorio exhibit at the Contemporary. It is gorgeous, interesting, intimate...really special.
Heading to Texas for the weekend. Yippee Yi Yay!
